Measure first

The four figures that decide whether it fits

Outdoor furniture goes back for one reason more than any other: it did not get through the door. Check these before ordering.

  1. Folded size decides the doorway, not open size. A lounger that opens to two metres may fold to under one. Where a folded figure is given, that is the number to compare.
  2. Balcony depth is the limit, not balcony width. A reclining chair needs room behind it. Measure from the railing to the wall.
  3. Planter volume matters more than diameter. A wide shallow pot holds less soil than a narrow deep one, and roots go down.
  4. Weather resistance is only what the supplier states. Where a page is silent, treat the piece as needing cover through the monsoon.
